Today concludes the craziness of Freshman Orientation and PA Training. Holy moly I made it. Only to start obstacle number two tomorrow: Autumn Quarter of my senior year.
It was surreal to watch the rush of all 690 incoming freshman scramble about, watch awkward interactions, observe frantic parents clinging to these last few days, sympathizing with the scrambled nerves of excitement, terror and confusion. How is it that this place, this routine, has become so familiar? It's old news, I know this campus inside and out, I know most of the staff and professors - or at least recognize them. And it all happened so fast. So I pray for these freshman to love every second here and take every opportunity and to never blink because it all goes so fast.
Besides the usual stresses that come with starting a new quarter [i.e. a perpetually broken car, no money, new residents, fatigue from just looking at syllabi and keeping everyone, including myself, happy] I think I'm ready. (Except for math class...Dear Lord, please let me survive and pass this course. please have mercy. Amen.)
Also: I just happened upon these very cool things:
1. A 5K race/walk at OCC benefiting two non-profit HIV/AIDS organizations! One, REACH Ministries , located in Tacoma that helps families locally and two, Living Hope Community Center, which is located in Cape Town, South Africa!! So. I am stoked and really want to participate and help raise funds! Registration is $25. Anyone want to do this with me?
2. I found this website: Plus3Network where you log your exercise and raise money for various causes!
Check them out!
