The Dare

Lately I've been reading "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp and it seems to be the jump-start I needed. She receives a dare from a friend:
"She dares me, and I don't even blink. Could I write a list of a thousand things I love? I read her line again. As in, begin another list? To name one thousand blessings -- one thousand gifts..."

A list on one thousand blessings.
Small things - that I skip 99% of the time because I am grumbling, complaining, rushing, or too exhausted to even look for anything other than the next cup of coffee. And the funny thing, as Ann expounds, when you start to focus on those small moments, daily miracles abound and all of a sudden time slows and its harder to focus on my grumbling because I'm searching for the next gift I am thankful for.

So I've started my own list and dare. And am still enjoying Ann's thoughts. She can be challenging and I'm enjoying her sleepy nostalgia writing style.

A few from my list:
1. The sticky sweet mess of a summer peach
8. The hum of water boiling in a tea kettle
10. Warm water running over my hands
13. A cozy cotton summer dress - all flowy
