Fine! I'll make it.

Well, today has been quite productive.

I have been on the hunt for a weekly desk-size planner - not a nice little book planner, or the desk size calendar with the whole month: but one week tear-away at a time. And believe it or not, this task was near impossible. I had dad taxi me around all of Colorado Springs in search for this silly thing that apparently doesn't exist - except it DOES! Because my roommate had one all last year.

So, being impatient as I am, by this morning I still had very little luck. And the few I found were a little smaller in size than I wanted: I have a lot to do people, I need a lot of room! So I embarked on making my own...and though it may have been cheaper to go with Seattle Target's variety (that my roommate informed me is in stock), I was already knee deep in the challenge of making my own. And thanks to about 4 hours this morning and Kinkos I have one that's just the right size, right colors and all the graphics I want to put me in organizational heaven.

I also have been working on converting my dads floppy disks with odd pictures from years ago onto the computer (and subsequently fighting with the computer insisting that "ERROR: No Disc in Drive" is indeed a LIE...I see it in there, I SEE IT! And listening to it moan and make noises like I assume a bumblebee's dying motorcycle might sound I am slowly but surely getting pictures off and finding long-forgotten treasures. Like some of the many stories I wrote when I was younger, and agendas from the Smiley Girls Club of which I was president and of which I think I persuaded my two best friends to endure.

My mom and I also got haircuts. An early birthday present. :)

So, all in all, not too bad.

Summer giggles

PHEW.
The past few weeks have been crazy busy and I've loved every second.

My parents have been very patient as I opened our home into a Bed &Breakfast for the many travelers that passed through! It all began when Nate texted me he was in Colorado with his brothers and a short few hours later he was on my doorstep and we were having a BBQ.

The next day I picked up Brie and Bekah and we began our insane tour of Colorado in 3.5 days! (Which I'll expand on more).

They left as Nick arrived. I spent the night at the lovely 'cabin in the woods', his parents new place in Larkspur. Then another BBQ with his family, mine and Mary Lou - always hilarious. Another day where I dragged Nick around to all my "COS family" and then we were off to Texas to see Jack and Janae!! (Which I'll have to expand on later).

A few important things I realized when Brie and Bekah were here:

1). I've forgotten all about what a treasure Manitou Springs is. So full of character, so many beautiful and colorful things that we skipped from store to store goggling at. Things we instantly put on our wish list. Therese accompanied us and we giggled at our shopping spree.

2). You take the place you live in for granted until someone visits. Showing Brie and Bekah Colorado made me realize just how beautiful my home is. Seeing it through they're eyes and comments only opened my eyes further and filled my heart with even more awe than before of Colorado's beauty.

3). The hot springs are the best thing on the planet. Sitting in a rushing Colorado creek and being nice and toasty was just fabulous! A lil picnic in the river...blissful!

4). I forget how much those girls make me laugh. I love them.

Me to a T (and what exactly does that mean anyways?)

A few things I've learned about myself today:

Achiever (is this why all of my plates are always full?)
"Achiever describes a constant need for achievement. You feel as if every day starts at zero. By the end of the day you must achieve something tangible in order to feel good about yourself. And by “every day” you mean every single day—workdays, weekends, vacations."
Hmmm, no wonder I'm so tired!

"You work very hard to complete each task on your “to do” list, and you always have a long list. In fact, at the end of the day some achievers add to their list all of the unexpected tasks they’ve accomplished, just so they have the satisfaction of crossing them off the list."
It's scary how true this is, in fact I checked off taking this test on my to-do list! I've even checked off "lunch" because I needed to feel like something was getting done...oy.

Learner (well, I love it enough to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars the past 3 years...)
"Your excitement leads you to engage in adult learning experiences—yoga or piano lessons or graduate classes."
Check, check and well, still working on undergraduate...guess this fits in with my insatiable drive to achieve (see above)!

Empathy (I am a tad sensitive...):
"You can pick up on the pain and joy of others — sometimes before they express it. Other people feel heard by you and experience your compassion."
Is this why I cry at commercials and everything else?

Intellection:
"You are the kind of person who enjoys your time alone because it is your time for musing and reflection. You are introspective." True true!

"Keep a journal and take time to write regularly. These ideas will serve as grist for your mental mill, and they might yield valuable insights. Writing might be the best way to crystallize and integrate your thoughts." Whaddya know?! I love journaling! And have since I was in elementary school! Though, I'm not sure where all my "valuable insights" are...

Input:
"You are inquisitive. You collect things. You might collect information—words, facts, books, and quotations—or you might collect tangible objects such as butterflies, baseball cards, porcelain dolls, or sepia photographs." Wow...yep, my room is full of collectibles, I just finished scrapbooking which is my 8th album since 8th grade, and is this why I can't THROW ANYTHING AWAY? But that napkin...it reminds of that dinner with friends!! No don't toss that toothpick I got that when we went on our road trip!!

BINGO!

Last night I was introduced to the phenomenon of BINGO.
And let me tell you, people are serious about their BINGO.

Colorful dabbers (and dabber holders for that matter) line the many rows of tables. Fancy glue sticks quickly assemble multiple cards together to keep them from sliding...some would play with as many as 20 different cards!

As soon as the first ball rolls in and the announcer reads "B9" into the microphone the room is silent except for the "tap tap tap" of colorful dabbers scanning all the cards and, hopefully, dabbing away! Trolls and other lucky trinkets assemble around their hopeful (and serious) BINGO players.

It was hysterical and I loved it! The suspense of tacking off numbers and getting SO close. The challenge of the different shapes "Lucky 7", "bow tie", and of course, blackout!

Didn't win anything, but decided that it is pretty fantastic. And I just might have to try my luck again and emerge with a triumphant "BINGO"!!

Avacado Summer

I love avacados.
They are just so delicious!!

I love them on sandwiches
in salads
and I am crazy about guacamole.

And I've realized lots of what I own is in the lovely shade of avacado. A few of my favorites right now include my toothbrush, phone, wallet and this great lil button mirror I found on Etsy.com <3

Here's my avacado inspiration for the day:
